African Global Events Industry Summit (AGEIS

The African Global Events Industry Summit (AGEIS) is a gathering of professionals in the African events sector—people involved in event planning, design, photography, decoration, MCs, DJs, etc.

It aims to professionalise, unite, and help grow the events industry across Africa through collaboration, networking, sharing best practices, innovation, etc.

There are workshops/masterclasses, panel discussions, interviews with thought leaders and experts. The theme for the inaugural summit was “Building Bridges in the African Events Industry.”

When & Where
(Inaugural Edition)

The first AGEIS was held from 22–25 February 2024.

Venue: Garden Court OR Tambo International Airport Hotel, in the City of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa.

 

Who Attends / Who’s Speaking

Expected participants include 100 to 150 event professionals from across Africa.

Geographic representation: majority from West and Central African countries (e.g. Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Burkina Faso), plus host country South Africa etc.

Types of professionals: social & corporate event planners, event designers and decorators, photographers, DJs, MCs, etc.

 

Why It Matters / Impact

The African events industry is growing, and is seen as contributing to economic development, foreign investment, and tourism.

The summit is seen as a way to raise the standard of events, improve professionalism / unify practices, and build networks across countries.

For many of the attendees, it’s both a learning opportunity and a chance to showcase their services, connect with peers, and explore collaborations.
